Making Adobe
All of our guest houses are built with adobe clay bricks, made from a mixture of sand, clay, water, and rice husks. The ingredients are mixed by stomping, placed into molds, and left to dry in the sun, creating durable bricks that adapt well to the climate.

Adobe walls are thick and dense, slowly absorbing heat during the day and releasing it at night, keeping the houses cool during daylight hours and warmer in the evening. Because the bricks are sun-dried rather than kiln-fired, they have a very small carbon footprint. We finish our houses with different plasters inside and outside to protect them from sun and rain, typically using clay or natural lime plasters made from sand, soil, and lime.
