Organic Rice
Our organic rice is carefully planted and harvested by hand. As a part of the activities with the children and staff members of BAAN DOI – Home and Healing Center for Children, we do every step of the rice cultivation such as – preparing the fields, planting the rice, supporting the growth with EM and biological fertilizers, harvesting, threshing and drying the rice – by ourselves. The North Star Organic Rice is especially valuable and tasty.
Organic Chocolate
In 2023 we received a piece of land with many cacao trees (Theobroma cacao) and wondered what we should do with all the cacao pods. Our curiosity sparked a learning journey at local artisan chocolate makers. We learned step by step, how to turn the cacao beans into organic chocolate. Every part of the process is carefully done by hand – we care for the trees by fertilizing and pruning them, harvest the pods, ferment, dry, roast, peel and then the ready cacao beans are turned into milk and dark chocolate. At the farm café we offer organic milk and dark chocolate bars. Also, our farm products like brownies and cookies are refined by our organic homemade chocolate.
Handicrafts
Many of our children living at the home have tribal background. In tribal communities’ embroidery is an integral part of the culture, which manifests itself in beautiful handmade clothes and accessories. We encourage the children and youth to stay connected with their roots by producing crafts like different kind of bags for the sale at the farm café.
