Soil Development, Composting and EM

We improved the soil by adding lots of organic matter to it,  by using Compost, EM and also adding activated Biochar to the soil.

EM From Young Banana&Sugar — Natural Soil and Plant Booster

We make our own EM (Effective Microorganisms) by fermenting young bananas, sugar, and water. During fermentation, beneficial microbes grow and multiply, creating a natural, living plant tonic.

Why we use Banana EM on our farm:

1. Feeds the soil with good microbes

The fermentation produces friendly bacteria and yeasts that improve soil health and help break down organic matter.

2. Helps plants absorb nutrients better

EM makes nutrients more available to roots, supporting stronger, healthier growth.

3. Improves soil structure

More microbial activity means softer, richer soil that holds moisture well.

4. Strengthens plant resilience

Regular use helps plants handle heat, pests, and disease more naturally.

5. Made from farm ingredients

Young bananas provide natural enzymes and minerals, and sugar feeds the microbes—making the mix sustainable and economical.

A simple, natural way to care for soil life and support healthy plant development.

Compost — Turning Waste Into Life

How We Make Compost

We mix together:

  • Food waste (fruit & vegetable scraps)
  • Manure (cow, buffalo, goat, or chicken)
  • Soil (adds helpful microbes)
  • Dry leaves (carbon-rich material)
  • Fresh grass (nitrogen-rich material)

Steps

1. Layer the materials

Start with dry leaves, then add food waste, grass, manure, and a thin layer of soil.
Keep building layers until the pile is about 1–1.5 m high.

2. Moisten the pile

It should feel like a damp sponge—never too wet or too dry.

3. Turn the compost

Mix it every 1–2 weeks to add oxygen and help it decompose faster.

4. Wait 2–3 months

Once it’s dark, crumbly, and smells earthy, it’s ready!

How Compost Benefits Soil&Plants

🌱 Enriches the Soil

  • Adds organic matter that improves structure.
  • Makes soil softer, lighter, and easier for roots to grow.

💧 Helps Soil Hold Water

  • Compost acts like a sponge, keeping soil moist for longer.

🌿 Feeds Plants Naturally

  • Provides slow-release nutrients like N, P, K and essential micronutrients.
  • Helps plants grow stronger, greener, and more productive.

🦠 Boosts Soil Life

  • Encourages earthworms, fungi, and beneficial microbes.
  • Microorganisms help break down minerals and make nutrients available to plants.

♻️ Reduces Waste

  • Turns kitchen scraps, leaves, and grass into valuable fertilizer.
  • Helps create a circular, sustainable farm system.
